Cities and Towns of Yellowia

Cities

The cities of Yellowia are more numerous than nearly any other nation on Habololy.  However, compared to many other nations, the cities are small, with the largest barely climbing over 50,000 inhabitants.

Saint Lawrence

The Capital of the kingdom and the traditional home of the king.  It was once merely a castle, but over the centuries, more and more people began to live around the castle.  Eventually, the outlying homes and the castle were incorporated into a city and named after the hero of the War of Technology from Yellowia.

The city is home to just under 20,000 people.  Most of those that live in the city are wealthy and employed by the royal family and the state.  Every visitor is rigorously checked and watched.  The castle is home to 2,500 soldiers as well.

Endeage

The jewel of Yellowia is undoubtedly Endeage.  The majority of city nobles here have turned down land outside the city.  Lavish events are held constantly, and the merchants sell only the finest items.  There are fewer than 1,000 soldiers within a day’s ride of the city.

Palata

Halflin’ Home is the name often used for Palata.  Of its near 50,000 residents, a third are Halflings.  It is also home to Silversword Hall and many would argue the finest entertainment and ale in the kingdom.

Southgate

The doorway to the south sits at the northern end of Bokan’s Pass, the best route through the hills.  Nearly 50,000 inhabitants and 20,000 soldiers live in and around Southgate.  The soldiers are tasked with ensuring the pass stays open.

Trade from all points south must come through Southgate, and that has made it a fast moving and often time’s wealthy town.  Races of all sorts live here in strong numbers.

Flopest

Once the most powerful port by far, Flopest has lost some stature to Newporton.  Although the larger and wealthier ships sail past Newporton, the smaller ones often decide to stop there and get back out to sea as opposed to sailing the sometimes difficult Astarian River.

Flopest is a wealthy town of old city noble families.  Humans dominate this city more than any other.

Stoppon

Once, Stoppon was the rough and tumnle river town.  But since the founding of Newporton, it has calmed down.  Now it is home to fewer than 35,000, most of whom are tradesman and fisherman, and most importantly, shipbuilders.  Most Yellowian ships are built in Stoppon.

Meldrage

The only city in the kingdom that has ever been occupied still bares the scars of the last Borkonic War.  Shrines to fallen soldiers, and vast cemeteries with dead that outnumber the living 50 to 1, draw thousands of visitors every year.  A grey cloud seems to hang over the lives of the inhabitants.

The people of Meldrage are the most hardened of all those in the kingdom.  It is here that the Deathsdoor Vigilants are said to have their base.

Trimany

Founded less than 100 years ago, Trimany is a direct result of the Trimany River, which only began to flow out of the hills 110 years ago.  It is a trading post and point of enter and exit from Trimany valley.

Of all of the cities in Yellowia, Trimany has the largest elven contingent.

Northguard

The city nearest the northern border of Yellowia, it is heavily garrisoned to prevent any danger from the Boiled Forest, Orcish Empire, or Borkondof.  It is evident to any visitor that Northguard was built for battle.  The planner is said to have envisioned a Yellowian version of Cadullon when he desgined the city soon after the War of Technology.

The city boasts over 30,000 inhabitants, in addition to the largest garrison of soldiers, numbering 25,000, in and around the city.  It also is home to the largest number of orcs and half-orcs in the kingdom.

Newporton

Positioned on the innermost portion of the Astarian Delta, Newporton was founded shortly after the river split in 440 AC.  It is small, with only 23,000 inhabitants, but its position on the river makes it important.

Gatori and Vass are major players in the city, and they control all of the raft and barging that goes on in the delta.

Newporton is often a haven for criminals, because it swamp-like climate and weather make it difficult for the horses of the army and its proximity to the sea make it the easiest place from which to get out of Yellowia.

Towns

The countless towns and villages of Yellowia are impossible to list.
